Spring gets me so excited for flowers and gardening and so this year we themed our Mother’s Day gift everything floral! Here is a list of 5 ideas for adults and kids to gift their Mothers and Grandmothers in their lives.

- Flower Tote Bag

First off is this Grandma tote. My kids have a Grandma and a Baba so we made one for each.
Supplies:
- Canvas tote
- Acrylic Paints
- Sponges and Paint brushes
- Iron on Paper or Cricut or Silhouette to cut out name

Have your child paint a simple flower pattern on a canvas tote using acrylic paints, sponges for the petals and paint brush for the stem. Once the paints have dried for 1-2 days you can then put parchment paper over top and iron the paint design for 30-60 sec to help set it on the tote more permanently. **wash the tote inside out on a gentle cycle and air dry**
You can then print out your grandparent’s name either on a cutting machine (such as a cricut or silhouette) or using iron on printer paper. It makes it a super cute tote that your grandparent can use for groceries, library books, or any sort of bag they want!

2. Floral Bookmark
Supplies
- Dried flowers
- plain bookmarks or cut some out on cardstock
- laminator
- yarn/string
- Modge Podge
This is a very elegant yet simple gift to make someone! Before gluing on your flowers, write a sweet message, have your child draw a picture, or write out a quote. Then flip over your bookmark and using Modge Podge, glue down your chosen dried flowers. **Be gentle, as they are very brittle!** But my 4 and 5 year old were able to do this carefully. Once the flowers have dried I out the book marks through my laminator to make them more durable! My laminator is still one of my favourite tools I own! Always using it to make worksheets for my kids, or laminating game cards to make them last longer.
After the bookmarks are laminated, hole punch your bookmark and choose your string or yarn of choice to add a little tassle. Your bookmark is ready for use.
3. Flower Frog

Supplies
- Air dry clay
- Floral napkin – Dollarama lots of time has cheap options
- straw or tube for making holes
- Modge Podge

This is an activity geared more toward teens and adults. I used Crayola air dry clay to make my flower frog. I rolled it out to about 1/4 inch thick and used a circle cookie cutter to get the shape I wanted. Using an old straw I punched out the holes for the flowers stems to go through. **I would make mine a but bigger next time as lots of stems might be too thick for these holes.** I then used a pencil to gently lift under the clay to give it a ripple effect. Let your clay dry completely before doing the next step. I waited two days to be sure!

Once the clay is dry you can gently sand it if has any bumps you don’t like. Then using a floral napkin I cut out the flowers from it and modge podged them to the clay. Put a layer of modge podge down first then lay your flower ontop and coat it with modge podge ontop as well. This will really seal in your flowers. Coat your entire flower frog with modge podge and let dry. Repeat on the back as well. If you so desire you could also do a light layer of resin if you have any, but modge podge holds up very well on it’s own.
4. All About Grandma Interview
Here is a free copy of an interview for a Grandparent! It includes a page for Grandma, Grandpa, Baba and Gido, and Nana and Papa. Please download and enjoy!
5. Watercolor Flower Card

I have gone on a deep dive of water color vidoes and tutorials lately. I find them so pretty and love the flow of water color paints. If you are a beginner it doesn’t take too long to get the hang of flowers and I recommend looking up water color flower tutorials on Youtube, Pinterest and Instagram. I played around with painting for a couple nights and came out with these different card patterns to use for my mother and mother-in-law. They are my no means professional but they are heart felt and a special homemade gift to a loved one!
I hope you enjoy these ideas for Mother’s Day and please share with me if you make any!
